My Life On Canvas

"Every Canvas I Paint Is a Journey Of  My Dreams On The Roads Of Reality"

The level of expertise and hours of practice required for an artist to pencil in the still life or delicately blend in the hues of landscapes, originates from their most prized possession- "their hand". My skills as an artist have indirectly helped me fine tune my creative talents and sharpen my interest in science. Over the last few years, I have mastered various mediums such as acrylic painting and colored pencil portraits as well as scientific skills like precise focus and deep understanding.

"Aayush"- Enhancing the educational experience for children with learning disabilities

Elementary school children, especially students with ADHD, face the constant struggle of staying focused when completing their school work at home. Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder is a learning disability that affects the attention span, impulses, and memory of an individual, thus serving as a barrier for students with this disability both in and out of the classroom. Upon speaking to mothers of children with ADHD, we found that children with ADHD struggle to have confidence in their abilities. Aayu, our focus companion, is a robot that utilizes incentives and periodic reminders to help that children with ADHD stay focused on their homework and parents of children with ADHD stay updated with the child’s work progress.

"Hand-med"Intelligent Sign Language Recognition for Deaf-Mute

"Hand-med" a commercial sensor glove company drafted during LaunchX program aims to aid deaf-dumb people by translating the sign language recognition into text with static palm side of right hand images. The glove  was developed using an efficient and fast algorithm for identification of the number of fingers opened in a gesture representing an alphabet of the Binary Sign Language. The prototype consisted of designed  intelligent system using group of Flex sensor, machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts to take visual inputs of sign language’s hand gestures and generate easily recognizable form of outputs. The objective of this project was to implement an intelligent system which can act as a translator between the sign language and the spoken language dynamically and can make the communication between people with hearing impairment and normal people both effective and efficient. After recognizing the gesture the output were expressed in terms of voice and text for display.

The main hardware of the system consists of off-the-shelf electrochemical sensors, a microcontroller, a wireless communication system and the customized buoy. It detects water temperature, dissolved oxygen and pH in a pre-programmed time interval. The developed prototype disseminates the gathered information in graphical and tabular formats through a customized web-based portal and preregistered mobile phones to better serve relevant end-users.

"Attilan"- Let's Live In Unknown

Attilan is a small habitat in the Equatorial Low Earth Orbit, designed as a hotel and amusement park. This project examines the circumstances which would envelop the construction of such a settlement, in the context of the 21st century, and examines the potential of space tourism as a possible approach to the development of space exploration. It is a civilized habitat located in the Equatorial Low Earth Orbit, where radiation levels are lower because of the presence of the Earth’s magnetic field. Attilan consisted of a central sphere, a dock, an intermediate double cylinder, a hybrid torus, a cylindrical column, a smaller sphere and a torus

Microplastic Detector Using Laser Microscopy and Image Processing

Designed a tool that can characterize microplastics in water using laser to illuminate solid particles in the water. A digital microscope perpendicular to the laser propagation direction records the scattered laser light followed by an image processing algorithm in Python analyzes the particle characteristics, such as a histogram of the particle size and particle count distribution. Using a 405 nm laser, the particle fluorescence emission can be analyzed using different color filter lenses, and different solid particle contaminants can be characterized. This is an advanced feature that can distinguish microplastics from other microscopic particles. The future fully-developed prototype detector can be used for industrial water quality control, homes with no access to filtration systems, and researching microplastic contamination

"namī"-  Home-Garden Drip Irrigation Automated System for Plant Pots

Drip irrigation system makes the efficient use of water and fertilizer. Water is slowly dripped to the roots of the plants through narrow tubes and valves. Water is fed directly to the base of the plants which is a perfect way to water plants. The namī is a designed prototype for home automation system using ready-to-use, cost effective and energy efficient devices including, moisture sensor raspberry pi, arduino microcontrollers, xbee modules and relay boards. Use of these components results in overall cost effective, scalable and robust implementation of system.  The design can be used in big agriculture fields as well as in small gardens via just sending an email to the system to water plants.
